Brooks Range

Yellowstone is a place that keeps changing the way I look. The landscape can shift in a matter of miles—from open valleys and winding rivers to forests, waterfalls, thermal basins, and vast expanses shaped by fire and geology.
I’ve returned to these places through my Morning Practice drawings, often remembering very specific moments: the quiet of Lamar Valley in the early morning, bison moving through the landscape, steam rising from the thermal areas, or the Yellowstone River cutting through the canyon. Drawing slows those memories down and brings me back to what first caught my attention.
There is always more to see in Yellowstone. It is one of those places I don’t think I’ll ever be finished observing.
