Yesterday I took a flower-drawing class from Ann Ward at Blanche Sylvia Gallery. It was informative, inspiring, and a lot of fun. I had every intention of going out to my garden this morning, cutting a rose, and putting what I’d learned into practice.
But Yellowstone was still calling me.
One of the unexpected gifts of this daily practice has been realizing that a place doesn’t stop speaking to you just because you’ve come home. Each drawing takes me back—not just to the landscape, but to the quiet, the cool morning air, and the feeling of standing there, simply observing.
The roses will still be blooming tomorrow. This morning, I went back to Yellowstone.
