Whitehorse

Whitehorse surprised me. After so much time traveling through remote country, the Yukon’s capital felt wonderfully cosmopolitan while still being completely connected to the landscape around it. It was an easy city to explore by bicycle, with an extensive network of trails and bike routes that made it possible to leave the RV behind and simply ride.

And then there were the small pleasures of being back in a city. I remember how excited I was to discover a wonderful Riverside Grocery filled with natural and fresh foods—things that had become increasingly difficult to find as we traveled farther north.

Whitehorse felt like an unexpected meeting of two worlds: a lively northern city surrounded by an immense wilderness.
