2026.05.16 Yavapi Vista Trail-Sedona

This drawing was inspired by time spent along the Yavapai Vista Trail near Sedona, where the open desert gives way to layered mesas, scattered junipers, and expansive skies. I was drawn to the quiet openness of the landscape and the way the trails wind through low vegetation toward the distant rock formations.Sedona has a way of feeling both grounded and expansive at the same time. The soft desert light, long views, and weathered terrain create subtle shifts in value and texture that I wanted to explore through ink and grayscale marker. Rather than focusing on detail, I tried to hold onto the feeling of moving through the landscape — the dry air, the openness, and the rhythm of the trail itself.
