View from Krotona Institute

Painted plein air at the Krotona Institute in Ojai, not far from my home. Krotona’s grounds are open to the public, and I have always been drawn to the gardens and the views beyond them. On this day, it was the color that caught me—the flowers and foliage in the foreground set against the muted purples and greens of the mountains in the distance. It was one of those places where I could set up my easel, slow down, and simply respond to what was in front of me.
