Tribal
Tribal was one of my first explorations into abstraction. I painted it while listening to Disturbed’s “Down with the Sickness,” allowing the rhythm and intensity of the music to drive the marks, shapes, and color rather than beginning with a recognizable subject.
There was an unexpected connection after the painting sold. While talking with the collector, I learned that he was a guitar teacher—and had spent that summer teaching “Down with the Sickness” over and over to his students. Somehow, the painting inspired by that song had found exactly the right home.
