Morning at the River

Painted plein air along the Ventura River, this piece captures the layered color and texture of the river landscape—the cool water in the foreground, dense chaparral and trees along its banks, and the mountains rising beyond. Working on location, I was drawn to the contrast between the soft lavender and rose of the distant mountains and the tangle of warm, sunlit vegetation closer to the river.
