Baker Beach
Painted plein air at Baker Beach in San Francisco, during that moment when winter was beginning to give way to spring. I was drawn to the snapdragons and the unexpected abundance of color covering the hillside. Behind me was the Golden Gate Bridge, but it was the flowers and the hillside that held my attention.
The painting remained in my studio for quite some time. Eventually, a woman visited and, as we talked about where it had been painted, she shared a deeply personal connection to Baker Beach. She bought the painting that day.
I have always felt that perhaps this painting wasn’t waiting to be sold. It was waiting for her.
