2026.04.03 Devereaux Lagoon – UCSB

Devereux Lagoon has a kind of quiet openness that makes everything feel slower. The water shifts with the tide, reflecting sky and light, while the low grasses and winding edges create a landscape that feels both still and constantly changing. I’m drawn to wetlands for that reason—they never hold one shape for long. At Devereux, the lagoon sits between land and sea, with birds moving through and the mountains resting quietly beyond. It feels like a place to pause, to watch, and to let the landscape unfold without needing anything from it.
