Morning Practice: Moraine Lake, Banff, Alberta. Yesterday, I sketched this scene from a different viewpoint plein air. My drawings are divided into 4 values—sometimes it’s clear which way to go, but other times it feels like a toss-up. Today I tried making an area a “3” because “2” didn’t feel right… but now I’ve decided neither works. What I really need is a 2.5!
