2026.05.17 Towards Murray Canyon Trail – Palm Springs

This drawing came from a walk through the Agua Caliente canyon lands near Palm Springs, where water, stone, and desert vegetation quietly intersect. I was drawn to the layered shadows moving across the rocks and the way the path seemed to disappear into the canyon beyond.The desert can often feel stark and exposed, but places like this hold surprising softness — pockets of shade, water-worn stone, and the sense that the landscape has been slowly shaped over immense stretches of time. With ink and layered grayscale markers, I tried to capture both the ruggedness and the quiet intimacy of the trail.
