2026.05.11 Spring at Murphy Canyon Trail – Palm Springs

On the trail to Murray Canyon, I was struck by the contrast between the desert heat and the coolness of moving water tucked beneath the palms and canyon walls. In spring, this place feels especially alive — shaded pools, scattered rocks, and the quiet rhythm of water moving through the canyon.I wanted this drawing to hold onto that feeling of relief and stillness found in the middle of the desert landscape. Using layered grayscale markers and ink, I focused on the shifting light, deep shadows, and the way the canyon seemed to open and close around the stream as I walked.
