2026.04.12 A View from an artist’s backyard

Ojai Studio Artists hosts Second Saturday open studios through the spring and summer—a chance for artists to open their spaces and for visitors to see where the work happens. I was supposed to open my studio in April, but after our house fire, it just wasn’t the right time.The unexpected gift was that I got to spend the day visiting studios I normally never have the chance to see. This view came from one of those visits—standing in another artist’s backyard, looking out at the familiar Ojai landscape from a completely different perspective. It felt like a reminder that even places we know well can become new again when seen through someone else’s eyes.
