Just about a mile from downtown Ojai, the town begins to open into fields, orchards, and the broad presence of the Topa Topa mountains. It’s one of the things I love most here—how quickly you move from streets and houses into open land and that unmistakable sense of valley and sky.I’m drawn to these edges where cultivated land meets the wildness of the hills. The fields in the foreground, the line of trees, and the steady rise of the mountains beyond create a feeling of both calm and scale. This drawing is about that balance—close to town, but already fully in the landscape.
