2026.03.10–03.11 Lichen & Fungi – Yellowknife

This second drawing took me two mornings. I didn’t want to rush it. The lichen and fungi at Fred Henne Territorial Park felt like their own landscape—small, intricate, and full of quiet complexity that needed time to really see.I was especially drawn to the reindeer lichen and the tiny horn-like fungi rising through it. Caribou depend on this kind of growth for food, which always amazes me—something so small and delicate helping sustain something so large and strong. It changed the way I looked at the ground beneath my feet. This drawing became less about observation and more about wonder.
