This stretch of Ventura County has a quiet, working beauty to it—rolling hills, fences, grazing cattle, and the kind of open space that still feels connected to its history. The old windmill always catches my eye, standing like a marker of both ranch life and time passing.This land was once at risk of development, and the effort to preserve spaces like this has made it even more meaningful to return here. I’m drawn to the visible layers of use—the worn earth, the fences, the openness shaped by grazing and weather. It feels both familiar and deeply rooted in place.
