2026.02.03 Foster Park Trees – Ventura County, CA

I started drawing trees when I was about eight.We had just moved from South Texas — where there weren’t many — to Arkansas, where the trees felt enormous.Drawing these, I was reminded of that feeling.Part of my ongoing Morning Practice series, this original drawing explores the experience of looking out across a familiar landscape—one that reveals itself gradually, through repeated viewing and attention to subtle variation rather than dramatic gesture.
