01.20 & 21.26 View from Meher Mount, CA
This drawing captures a layered coastal landscape viewed from Meher Mount, where dark foreground forms give way to rolling hills, open water, and a pale horizon beyond. The composition moves gradually outward, inviting the eye from the immediacy of land into the distance, where sea and sky quietly merge.Loose, searching lines describe the terrain while deeper gray passages anchor the foreground, creating contrast against softer washes of atmosphere and light. The clouds are suggested rather than defined, lending the scene a sense of motion and impermanence—an in-between moment where weather, land, and light are still shifting.Part of my ongoing Morning Practice series, this original drawing reflects a continued exploration of memory, observation, and place—how landscape is experienced not all at once, but in layers, over time.
