01.07 & 08.26 San Miguel de Allende, Zona Centro — Buen Viaje – Mexico
This drawing reflects a street corner in San Miguel de Allende’s Zona Centro, where a corner building and the steady movement of people shape the rhythm of the space. The architecture anchors the composition, its angles and proportions carefully resolved over time, while simplified figures suggest everyday motion—walking, waiting, passing through.Although this drawing was not completed on site, it was developed over two days and informed by time spent at this corner. During that visit, conversations with people passing by helped clarify architectural details, allowing the structure to settle into place with greater accuracy and confidence.Loose line work and layered gray washes describe light, shadow, and movement without overstatement. The figures remain understated, keeping the focus on the relationship between people and place, and on the patience required to fully understand a built environment.Part of my ongoing Morning Practice series, this original drawing reflects observation, memory, and the quiet collaboration that can emerge from paying attention.
