Nevada is a landscape of contrasts. I loved Valley of Fire State Park, with its extraordinary red sandstone formations, sweeping desert views, and constantly changing shapes and colors. We visited when the heat was intense—so intense that many of the trails were closed—and I left knowing I wanted to return when the weather is more moderate and I can spend more time exploring.

And then there is Las Vegas. Completely different from the quiet of the desert, but a place I enjoy as well. From vast, seemingly empty landscapes to the energy and spectacle of the city, Nevada offers very different ways of looking—and plenty of reasons for me to return.
