Kluane Lake

The first time we passed Kluane Lake on our way to Alaska, I was entranced. The colors, the vastness, the quiet—there was something about the lake simply existing within that enormous landscape that I couldn’t let go of.
So I changed our plans. On the return trip, we cut our time in Whitehorse short, found a place where we could boondock near the lake, and went back. The skies were hazier and the weather wasn’t nearly as beautiful as it had been the first time through.
I didn’t care. I was in heaven.
Sometimes a place catches hold of me that way. Kluane Lake was one of those places.
