Jasper National Park

Jasper National Park was one of my favorite places in the Canadian Rockies. It felt quieter than Banff when we were there, perhaps in part because the landscape was still recovering from fire. The evidence of that fire was everywhere, creating its own stark beauty and making the resilience of the landscape impossible to ignore.
The elk were rutting during our stay. At night, snug inside the RV, we could hear their calls carrying through the darkness—an eerie, unforgettable sound. Jasper became one of those places that stayed with me not only for what I saw, but for the experience of being there.
