Spend a creative morning in Ojai learning to draw what you see. This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn to draw—whether you are completely new, don’t think of yourself as an artist, or are a painter hoping to strengthen your skills. We’ll explore how drawing helps us slow down and truly see.
The workshop will focus on shapes, proportions, composition, and—most importantly—value relationships.
A quick value sketch can help you simplify a landscape, plan a composition, and make stronger decisions before beginning a painting.
We’ll work together from the same photograph for the first exercise.
All drawing supplies are included, and you may take them home after the workshop.
No previous drawing or painting experience is necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring a photograph they would like to draw during the second part of the workshop. The photograph may be printed or displayed on an iPad. If you do not bring one, I’ll have additional reference images available. Saturday, September 26, 2026 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 414 E.
