Day 84 of My 90 Day Painting Challenge

Denali Fireweed

Oh how glorious it was to work in my studio today: no rush, no where to be. I just got to get into the groove and paint.

This is from Denali – I truly loved all the colors against the snow capped mountains. I remember when we were there, it truly was a feast for the eyes… just couldn’t stop looking and trying to keep the colors seared in my brain. With my level of photography, I can’t capture the colors as they were, so I have to rely a lot on my memory.

I think what was the most impressive about Denali was the absence of humanity. You could look and listen and except for the people you came in with – you couldn’t hear or see anything but mountains, tundra and animals. Bliss.
