Ojai Meadow Cloudy Late Afternoon

I attended an artist talk today at the Santa Paula museum — they were talking to my friend Gina and discussing her work.

One of the questions they asked was why an artist chooses to paint something. It is hard sometimes when you’re walking around to know why you’re attracted to something – it’s like you’re hit with song — or the light blinds you…whatever it is, your body is electric.

But, when you’re looking back through your photos, I think sometimes the reasons are more analytical. (Of course, the electric did happen when you took the photo!)

Anyway… I was attracted to paint this because of the puffy fog in the mountains and the challenge of making it so that you, the viewer, know the time of day and maybe just get a hint to what we were thinking.
