Lupine Field, South Lake Tahoe
As I’ve said in a previous blog, I painted in a plein air competition in South Lake Tahoe. This field was our first day of painting. The lupine bloom a lot later in Tahoe than they do on Figueroa Mountain. The fragrance is so heavenly that it can be hard to paint, you just want to breathe in wonderful smell.
There was still a chill in the air (which is probably why the lupines were still blooming) – one of the evenings we actually had to put on hats, mittens and scarfs! Hard for this southern California artist to accept that in June! (Unless you’re visiting San Francisco…)
I loved the mountains framing the field with just a little snow dusting the tops of one of them. A little heavenly.
