After Calgary, we spent a couple of days at Bow Valley Provincial Park before continuing on to Banff. It was a welcome respite—a chance to slow down and settle into the landscape of the Canadian Rockies.

I was able to set up my easel and paint there, spending time looking at the mountains, trees and changing light rather than simply passing through. It became more than a place along the way; it was an introduction to the Rockies at a quieter pace.
